Massage [R.M.T] - Cupping

This service is covered by private health insurance plans under registered massage therapy services.

Registered Massage Therapist manipulate the client's soft tissues to promote relaxation, reduce stress. improve mobility, eliminate pain and reduce overall body tension. During a cupping massage, the therapist places multiple silicone or plastic cups on the clients body to create a suction. The therapist will then either leave these cups in place for a few minutes or move them around. The suction created by the cups further encourages blood flow and fascial release. Cups are used to treat one area of the body and red cupping marks may be left on the treated area for up to a few weeks later. In addition to cupping, other techniques are applied during the massage including: Swedish, deep tissue, active releases, trigger points and myofascial techniques.

Acupuncture [R.Ac] - Clinical

Acupuncture involves the insertion of very thin needles at strategic points of the body based on traditional Eastern medicine . It is commonly used to help treat : pain, fertility, stress, anxiety, depression, weight loss, smoking cessation, neurological symptoms and overall wellness.

During these sessions, the acupuncturist will first perform a brief assessment (approx. 10-15 min) on the first visit to fully understand your needs and then follow up with a treatment that combines massage techniques and needling. Every treatment plan is individualized and based on your comfort level and goals. If you are curious but scared to try acupuncture this is a good intro session as therapists can start with just a few tiny needles and limit the needling time until you feel comfortable.

Acupuncture [R.Ac] - Fire Cupping

Fire Cupping is an ancient form of therapy dating back thousands of years. This method is performed by using fire to create suction inside glass cups and then placed on the patient's body. The skin gets lifted from the myofascial and as blood rushes to fill the empty space, it brings in fresh nutrients and oxygen along the way. It increases blood circulation, releases muscle tension and promotes cell repair. The glass cups can be used statically or dynamically across the service area.

During this treatment, the acupuncturist will perform a brief assessment on the first visit (approx. 10-15min) to target your needs and afterwards follow through with a treatment that combines : fire cupping, acupuncture and massage techniques. Every treatment plan is individualized and based on your comfort level and goals. Fire cupping might look or sound scary at first but it's not as painful as it looks and it can even be quite relaxing!

This service is performed by a Registered Acupuncturist, which may be eligible for coverage under your health care benefits.

There is a total of 4 sessions in the Yoga therapy program; an initial assessment (75-90min) and 3 subsequent sessions (60min). Student’s receive a personalized home practice after the first session and are expected to practice the 20-minute sequence on a daily basis throughout the 5-week program.
