Please note that NOT ALL PRACTITIONERS ARE REGISTERED MASSAGE THERAPISTS (RMTs). If you wish to claim the service through your insurance, please select a massage listed with “RMT” in the title or a practitioner with “RMT” in their name. Alternatively, you can explore our Holistic Practitioner options, which are offered at a lower rate, yet still provide the same excellent care! Kindly remember that our 24-hour cancellation policy applies to all bookings, including if you accidentally choose the wrong practitioner.
Thai massage is a healing tradition that originated in India over 2,500 years ago. Unlike other massage styles that typically use long, flowing strokes and kneading, Thai massage employs stretching, pulling, and rocking techniques to relieve tension, enhance flexibility, and stimulate the flow of energy throughout the body.
Thai massage includes rhythmic compression along the body‘s energy lines, known as “sen” in Thai, combined with deep, yoga-like stretches while the practitioner uses their hands, feet, elbows, and knees to move the client into various yoga-like positions. This form of passive stretching can increase flexibility, relieve joint and muscle tension, and balance the body’s energy systems.
The massage is performed on a padded mat on the floor with the client fully clothed in a loose-fitting top and pants provided by the therapist. No oils or lotions are used throughout the session and a Traditional Thai Massage typically takes two hours to complete (however we do offer shorter sessions). It’s a perfect blend of massage and stretching, often nicknamed “Yoga for lazy people” as the therapist does all the movements for you.
